Linda Faye Lofton, 61, (Formerly of Wayne County) transitioned from earth on Thursday, February 18, 2021, in Santa Clarita, California Born to the late Truman and Verniece (Washington) Lofton on January 22, 1960. Linda was reared on her family farm with her ten siblings in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Linda's faith in God was central to he life. She shared her love of God with others through her many musical talents. Her angelic voice was often heard in concert with her siblings and in church choirs. Linda was also a talented musician and songwriter. Linda's song "There Is a Reason" is still sung today by those blessed to have known her.
An avid fan of the UNC Tar Heels, Linda could be found on game day cheering on the Tar Heels as they executed the four corners offense. Linda was a graduate of Rosewood High School. Linda remained true to her Carolinian roots by continuing her education at East Carolina University where she received a bachelor's degree in Education.
Service to others was a core value Linda held and displayed through her professional endeavors and spiritual walk. She made the ultimate commitment to service when she joined the United States Air Force where she served as a Personnel Specialist, achieving the rank of Senior Airman.
Linda was known as a gentle soul. Although she was a quiet presence, her passing leaves an immeasurable void for those she encountered.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Washington Memorial Park in Dudley, North Carolina
She is survived by her siblings, Shirley Hedgepeth (Zachariah) of Bowie, Maryland, Viola Britt of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Nora Harper of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Truman Lofton Junior, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Thurman Lofton (Mildred), of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, Randle Lofton, of Durham, North Carolina, Kathleen Simmons (Pernell), of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Anna Whitfield, of Durham, North Carolina, Noah Lofton, of Petersburg, Virginia, James Lofton, of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces and nephews James Britt Junior, Gala Britt, Danielle Harper, Michael Harper, Truman "Jermiah" Lofton, Latoya Murray (Jonathan), Brian Simmons, Angelica Whitfield, Ahmad Whitfield, Alesia Whitfield, James Lofton Junior, great-nieces and nephews, Joy Murray, Lathan Murray, Makenzie Stevens, aunts and uncle Blonnie Smith (Archie) of Washington, DC and Dorethea Branch of LaGrange, North Carolina, and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones.
