Service of comfort by S. Connor Memorial Funeral Home in Snow Hill.
Ella Louise Suggs Fulton, affectionately known as "Lou” or “Aunt Louise," transitioned into eternal rest
on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at her beloved home in Snow Hill, North Carolina. She was born on June 27,
1942, to the late Winnie Cornelius House Suggs and Square Suggs Sr. in Greene County, North Carolina.
Louise was the second youngest of seven siblings and attended Greene County Public Schools before
furthering her education at Barnes Business College in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Upon completion, she
pursued a career in nursing and earned her Nursing Degree in Newark, New Jersey. She dedicated
herself to the health field, working at Graystone Park Mental Institution and Garden Terrace Nursing
Home in Morris County, New Jersey until her retirement, always taking great pride in her profession.
Aunt Louise had a deep love for her family and the residents under her care, whom she considered her
second family. She enjoyed spending quality time with loved ones at her home in “Fox Cross” (Britt
Road) and was known for her generosity, often arriving with gifts for her nieces, nephews, and great
nieces and nephews.
She was reunited in eternal peace with her parents, husband Roosevelt Fulton, and siblings Johnnie
Suggs (Frances), Square Suggs Jr., Arnold Suggs (Pearlie), and Marion Harris (Albert). She is survived by
her sons, Michael Roosevelt Fulton and Stephen Nicholas Fulton, sisters Hilda Elizabeth Suggs (Paul), and
Eleanor Roosevelt Suggs, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews,
friends, and her cherished great-great nephews, whom she lovingly referred to as “Frank and Jesse”.
"Daphnie" as she was lovingly nicknamed by her youngest sister, will be remembered for her
unwavering dedication to her family, her love for her home, and the joy she brought to all who knew
her. May she rest in peace, forever in the hearts of those she touched.
